The St. Gregory the Great Mental Wellness Ministry launched in 2024!

Committed to promoting mental wellness and creating a faith community that is free from stigma and isolation associated with mental health challenges & disorders

On May 15, the SGG Mental Wellness Ministry hosted a special Mass and reception in honor of the Feast of St. Dymphna, the patroness of those with mental and emotional disorders. Our Mass celebrant and homilist was Fr. Dave Sunberg, and about 60 parishioners shared a very meaningful evening of worship and conversation.

What is 9-8-8?

The national 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides 24/7, free, and confidential support for individuals in crisis. This important Lifeline can be reached by dialing or texting 9-8-8 or online at 988lifeline.org (https://988lifeline.org/).

· Anyone who is experiencing a suicidal, mental health, or substance use crisis can connect with a trained counselor at one of more than 200 call centers.

· Counselors are prepared to aid in various crisis situations and to help create safety plans; they can also connect callers to resources or refer them to local mental health care providers. They are trained to only call the police as a last resort, when it is necessary to save a person’s life.

· Since its launch in mid-2022, 9-8-8 has received more than 11 million calls, texts, and chats; with rates now exceeding a half million each month.

Please help us spread the word about 9-8-8 so that people in crisis know where to get help in an emergency. For more information about 9-8-8 see: https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help/988
