Father Aaron Hess

My name is Fr. Aaron, and I am very excited to begin serving you and your families this coming July!  I grew up almost as far away as possible in the Archdiocese, about 2 hours north of here.  My home parish was St. Marys in Philothea (about 200 people at our one Mass each weekend), and I graduated from Coldwater High School in 2012. I entered seminary right after graduation, spent 4 years at Bishop Brute in Indianapolis, and then 5 years at Mount St. Marys.  My internship year was spent at All Saints and St. Vincent Ferrer in Kenwood, so I have had a good chunk of time on the east side.  I was ordained May 15, 2021, and for the past three years I have served in Shelby County at St. Joseph Pillar of Families Parishes (which is where Fr. Alex will be going!).  This includes Holy Angels, Sidney; St. Michaels, Ft. Loramie; Sts. Peter and Paul, Newport; and Sacred Heart, McCartyville.  I was also the chaplain for Lehman Catholic High School my first year as a priest.

Some fun facts about me: I am the oldest of four children, with a sister and two brothers. One of my brothers is getting married in December, the first of our family to do so, so I am very excited!  I bowled in High School and continue to go occasionally. I’ve gotten into wood burning recently, which has been an interesting and enjoyable hobby. Music has always been a big part of my life: band, musicals, choirs, piano, organ. I like watching and following different sports, especially Notre Dame football and Reds baseball, and professional tennis is by far my favorite! I also enjoy baking the occasional pie or two and pretending I know my way around the kitchen!

I am looking forward to serving these three parishes here in a short while and to work with and learn from both Fr. Angi and Fr. King.  I’m also looking forward to getting to know many of you and your families. Feel free to reach out to say hello and introduce yourself, and I’ll do my best to start remembering names! And if you would like to invite me over some time, I can always bring a pie!

Know of my prayers for all of you, for your families, for our youth, and for the entire St. Gregory the Great Family of Parishes. Please pray for me.

Fr. Aaron

Thanksgiving Day Mass

The St. Gregory the Great Thanksgiving Day Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary at 9:00 am on Thursday, November 28th.  This is an opportunity for us to come together as a Family of Parishes in a similar way as we come together with our own families and loved ones.

Please join us!
